🌿 Formerly Fit Cannabis Girl — the next chapter

I didn't stop believing in wellness. I had to redefine what it means.

Jaelea Wellness is an honest, evidence-informed home for people living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, chronic pain, and invisible illness — built by someone walking the same road.

🤍 Never sells false hope 📚 Evidence-informed ♿ Built for accessibility
You're in the right place

If your body has stopped following the rules, you are not too much — and you are not alone.

Maybe a doctor just handed you a diagnosis with a name you can barely pronounce. Maybe you've been fighting to be believed for years. Maybe you love someone who is. Whatever brought you here, this is a place to breathe, learn, and find people who get it.

Newly diagnosed

EDS, hypermobility, or a chronic condition that just got a name. We'll help you find your footing.

Living it daily

Chronic pain, fatigue, fibromyalgia, autoimmune, invisible illness — the long, quiet work of adapting.

Caregivers & family

Loving someone who's sick is its own kind of hard. Resources for you, too.

Providers

Plain-language, well-sourced material to share with the patients you're trying to help.

The evolution

From Fit Cannabis Girl to Jaelea Wellness

This isn't a rebrand that erases the past. It's the same person, further down the road — with more scars and more to share.

Jennessa Lea built Fit Cannabis Girl into a respected community by doing something rare: telling the truth about her body. Diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome in 2013 after years of being dismissed, she went from a wheelchair and dangerously high-dose opioids to running a 5K — losing 100 pounds and reclaiming her life along the way. She used cannabis to get off opioids, movement to protect her joints, and her voice to break stigma.

Then EDS did what EDS often does. It progressed. The version of "fit" that once defined her wasn't available anymore, and she had to face a harder question: what is wellness when your baseline keeps moving?

Jaelea Wellness is her answer. Wellness isn't a before-and-after photo. It's pacing instead of pushing. It's grief and adaptation and stubborn hope. It's building a life that fits the body you actually have.

2013

Diagnosed with EDS after years of misdiagnosis — finally, a name for a lifetime of "growing pains."

2015

Escaped high-dose opioids and an abusive relationship. Rebuilt her body and her life through movement.

2016–2021

Fit Cannabis Girl grows into a community — fitness, cannabis education, and breaking stigma around chronic illness.

Today

Living with progressing EDS and its daily companions. Redefining wellness — and helping others do the same.

The wellness toolkit

Many tools. No miracle cures.

Living well with chronic illness is rarely one big fix — it's a lot of small, honest tools used together. Here's how we organize what we cover.

Everything here separates personal experience, current research, and established medical evidence. We never promise cures, and nothing here replaces your care team.

Understanding EDS

The types, the 2017 hypermobile criteria, comorbidities (POTS, MCAS, GI), and what "hypermobility spectrum" really means.

Pillar

Movement & PT

Joint-protective, low-load, hypermobility-aware movement. Why gentle and consistent beats hard and heroic.

Pillar

Pain Management

The full menu — from PT and pacing to meds, injections, and mind-body tools — compared with honesty.

Pillar

Nutrition & Inflammation

What the evidence actually supports, plus low-energy, GI-friendly ways to feed a demanding body.

Pillar

Sleep & Fatigue

Why chronic illness wrecks sleep, and pacing strategies for the fatigue that no nap fixes.

Pillar

Mental Health

Grief, anxiety, and medical trauma are part of chronic illness — not a weakness. Support without toxic positivity.

Pillar

Cannabis — one tool among many

Honest cannabis education framed as one option, clearly labeling evidence vs. experience. Never a cure, never for everyone.

Educational

Daily Living & Accessibility

Aids, adaptations, mobility tools, and energy-saving hacks that make ordinary days possible.

Pillar

Doctors, Disability & Advocacy

Preparing for appointments, navigating insurance and disability, and being believed.

The science, translated — without the spin

Every study we summarize follows the same honest format, so you always know how much weight to give it. Here's what one entry looks like.

Cannabis Chronic pain Systematic review

Cannabis-based products for chronic pain

Living systematic review, updated 2025

Plain-language summary
Across many studies, some people with chronic pain get modest relief from cannabis-based products, but the average benefit is small and the quality of evidence is limited. Results vary a lot by product, dose, and person.
What was studied
Pooled trials and studies of THC/CBD products for adults with various chronic pain conditions, measuring pain, function, and side effects.
Strength of evidence
Low to moderate certainty
Limitations
Short study lengths, inconsistent products and dosing, few EDS-specific participants, and real side effects (dizziness, sedation, cognitive effects).
Practical takeaway
Cannabis may help some people as part of a broader plan — worth an honest conversation with your clinician, not a guaranteed fix.
Citation
AHRQ Living Systematic Review on Cannabis for Chronic Pain (2025 update); summarized in Annals of Internal Medicine. Full citation linked on the library page.

How to read every entry

The research library exists so you never have to take a wellness claim on faith — or on a headline. Each study is filed under plain-language topics and tagged by type, from anecdote-level to gold-standard.

  • Plain-language summary first — the takeaway before the jargon.
  • Strength-of-evidence meter so you can weigh it honestly.
  • Limitations named out loud — no cherry-picking.
  • Practical takeaway you can actually use or raise with your doctor.
  • Original citation, always — verify it yourself.

Strong evidence and one person's story are both valuable — but they are not the same thing, and we'll never pretend they are.

Flagship product

Companion — the planner your illness didn't come with

A symptom-tracking and appointment-prep system built by a chronic illness patient, for chronic illness patients. Turn scattered symptoms into clear patterns — and walk into every appointment believed.

Stop losing your own data to brain fog and bad days.

When every appointment starts with "so how have you been?", the honest answer is "I can't remember." Companion does the remembering for you — tracking symptoms, flares, medications, sleep, cycles, and yes, cannabis or other tools — then turns it into a one-page summary your doctor can read in 30 seconds.

  • Flare & symptom tracker — pain, fatigue, subluxations, GI, mood, on good days and bad.
  • Medication & tool log — what you took, when, and whether it helped (including cannabis, clearly logged).
  • Doctor-visit organizer — auto-builds a printable one-page summary and a question list.
  • Pattern insights — spot triggers, trends, and what actually moves your baseline.
  • Spoon-friendly design — logging takes under a minute, on your worst days.
